Welded connections are introduced to students including types of weld, grades, and welding process. Failure of weld under resultant shear force is introduced and discussed with students. Effect of end forces on weld is shown due to all internal forces. Simple welded connection example is solved for students under the effect of axial force in member (shear at connection)
