Course Description

تعتبر المنشأت المعدنية من أكثر المنشأت شيوعا بعد الخرسانة المسلحة حيث يكثر استخدامها فى المنشات الهامة كالجسور والمبانى العالية وحظائر الطائرات والصالات والأنفاق وتتميز الإنشاءات المعدنية بسرعة إنشائها ومدى تحملها للإجهادات : و تمتاز المنشأت المعدنية بالمواصفات التالية لا تحتاج الى شدات خشبية أو اى مواد تستهلك أثناء الاشغال مما يوفر فى تكلفة الانشاء ، سهولة التحكم فى خواصها وفى تكوينها الكيميائى وهى ميزة لا تتمتع بها المواد الانشائية الاخرى ، السرعة فى الانشاء حيث يتم تصنيع أجزاء المنشأ فى الورش ويتم تجميعها وتركيبها فى موقع الانشاء ، دقة التصنيع حيث يمكن التحكم فى جودة انتاج العناصر المعدنية فى الورش و يمكن اجراء تعديلات فى المنشات المعدنية اثناء الانشاء أو بعده بسهوله ودون اللجوء الى هدم المبنى كحالة المنشات الخرسانية

Steel structures are one of the most important techniques in building structures. It offers an amazing attractive construction material for large spans, high rise buildings, bridges. This types of construction allows to reuse buildings and transfer to different location, easier construction beside other advantages. This course introduces the students to the basic fundamental of steel structures like design of truss and frame systems to satisfy axial, flexural, and shear requirements. It also focuses on the design of different types of connections and base plates to satisfy the design requirements. The intended learning outcomes of the course are; ability to analyze steel structures, ability to design steel structures for strength, safety and stability considering safe connections. This is beside ability of students to effectively participate in team work and think about new structural system
