علاجية Medical: قد تكون مناخية او مياه معدنية او سواحل بحرية. سياحة رياضية Sports:مثل العاب الاولمبيات وكأس العالم. الدينية Religious:كما في الزوار إلى القدس وغيرها من الاماكن الدينية. العلمية(المؤتمرات) Conferences. سياحة الترانزيت Transit: يمكن ان تدرج احيانا ضمن السياحة ( منطقة المنامة في البحرين من المناطق المهمة في الترانزيت). السياحة الترفيهية والاستجمام وهي سياحة قديمة. السياحة السياسية يمكن ان تدرج ضمن السياحة. سياحة اجتماعية حيث يقوم الاقارب بزيارة بعضهم البعض في دول اخرى او اماكن اخرى. الرسمي قد تكون سياحة او اقتصادية.
