النحت هو عمل فني ثلاثي الأبعاد يتم إنشاؤه عن طريق تشكيل أو دمج المواد الصلبة ويستخدم كغرض تذكاري او ديني او تاريخي من خامات مختلفة مثل الحجر او الشب او الجبس او المعدن او الشمع او البلاستيك وطرق النحت متعددة منها النحت عن طريق الحفر او الصب او البناء المباشر او التركيب النحتي . ومن انواع النحت النحت البارز او الغائر والتجسيد فيما عدا وجودها ملتصقةً بالسطح في خلفيتها والنحت المجسم يظهر التجسيد والتمثيل الكامل. ويجب معالجة الشكل في عملية النحت مع مراعاة الفراغ والكتلة والخط.
