Leukocytes are grouped into two major categories based on structural and chemical characteristics; Granulocytes and agranulocytes. They are important in response of immunity against virus, bacteria, and cancerous cells. Imbalance of leukocytes number could arise from cancer (leukemia). The leukaemia’s are named according to the cell type primarily involved. For example, myeloid leukemia involves myeloblast descendants, whereas lymphocytic leukemia involves the lymphocytes.
